Wicked Movie Costume Collection
The story links Elphaba’s green skin to the mysterious green elixir her mother drinks before Elphaba is born. Her appearance makes her an outsider in Oz and becomes central to how other characters treat her.
Use skin-safe green theatrical or water-based body paint applied in thin layers with a makeup sponge. The Wicked movie used a custom shade nicknamed “Cynthia Green,” but any vibrant emerald or grass-green paint can work when finished with contouring, freckles and setting powder.
Galinda originally gives Elphaba the unusual hat as a cruel joke before the Ozdust Ballroom dance. Elphaba wears it confidently, and it eventually becomes a symbol of her identity and changing relationship with Glinda.
Start with a long black Gothic dress or coat and add a pointed witch hat, dark braided wig, green makeup and dramatic green nails. Round glasses create her Shiz University look, while a broomstick completes her later Wicked Witch appearance.
