ABOUT YZMA:

Yzma is the main antagonist in Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove, voiced by Eartha Kitt. As the royal advisor to Emperor Kuzco, she is portrayed as cunning, ambitious, and eccentric, with a flair for dramatic fashion, often dressed in purple and black. Yzma is obsessed with power and seeks to overthrow Kuzco to take the throne for herself. Her plans frequently involve elaborate schemes and potions, though they often backfire comically.

How To Dress Like Yzma

1. DRESS – The focal point of this Yzma costume is undoubtedly her striking full-length black dress. For our outfit, we went for this dress and headpiece combo.

2. SHAWL – No female Disney villain is complete without an oversized and evil-looking collar. Yzma’s feather shrug is undoubtedly one of the most iconic.

3. FOOTWEAR – Grab yourself a pair of strappy purple heels with a square toe.

4. NAILS – We love any excuse to wear a set of false stiletto nails. For our Yzma costume, we went for a more conservative length in a deep wine-red color.

5. EARRINGS – There’s no doubt about it, Yzma is a true fashion icon. Her over-the-top outfits are complemented by a few enviable dangle earrings throughout The Emperor’s New Groove. Our personal favorite is her set of oversized blue bauble earrings.

6. BODYPAINT – Like us, you might want to mix a purple bodypaint with a little white to recreate Yzma’s almost lilac skin tone.

Yzma Costume: FAQ

How do you make an Yzma costume from The Emperor’s New Groove?

Wear a fitted, floor-length black dress with a dramatic purple feather collar. Add purple gloves, square-toed heels, oversized blue earrings, a tall feathered headpiece and theatrical lavender makeup.

How can you make Yzma’s feathered headpiece?

Cover a lightweight cylindrical base with purple felt or fabric and secure it to a wide headband. Attach tall purple feathers around the top, keeping the heaviest decorations close to the center so the headpiece remains balanced.

How do you recreate Yzma’s makeup?

Apply skin-safe pale lavender face paint before adding sharply arched eyebrows, purple eyeshadow, heavy black eyeliner and exaggerated false eyelashes. Finish with pronounced cheek contouring and dark plum or wine-colored lipstick.

What accessories make an Yzma costume recognizable?

Yzma’s most important accessories are her purple feather collar, tall headdress and oversized blue earrings. Long purple gloves, pointed false nails and an imitation potion bottle can add further detail.

How do you make Yzma’s secret lab costume?

Wear a long white lab coat with purple gloves, protective goggles and Yzma’s dramatic makeup. Carry a lightweight potion bottle labeled “Llama” to reference the transformation potion that Kronk accidentally gives Kuzco.

Who can you pair with Yzma for an Emperor’s New Groove costume?

Kronk is the strongest choice for an instantly recognizable Yzma duo costume. Add Kuzco, llama Kuzco, Pacha and Chicha to create a larger Emperor’s New Groove group.
