ABOUT T.J. DETWEILER:
Theodore Jasper “T.J.” Detweiler is the main protagonist and leader of the Recess gang. He is a prankster with excellent leadership skills, confidence, and the ability to talk his way out of any situation. T.J. is rarely seen without his red baseball hat, which he always wears backward. While not the smartest academically, he is intelligent and can engineer complex pranks. He stands up for the underdog and is fiercely loyal to his friends, though he is capable of calling them out when they’re wrong.
1. JACKET – Begin your T.J. cosplay with a simple green bomber jacket.
2. CAP – Next, you will need a plain red baseball cap just like this one.
3. JEANS – T.J. Detweiler wears a pair of baggy skater jeans in a light denim wash.
4. T-SHIRT – Keeping things simple and laidback, T.J. also wears a basic plain tee under his jacket.
5. FRECKLES – Use a dark brown freckle pen to add three freckles on either side of your nose.

Recess Costume Collection
Wear a white T-shirt beneath an open green bomber jacket, then add baggy light-wash jeans and red canvas sneakers. Complete the costume with freckles and a plain red baseball cap worn backward.
T.J.’s full name is Theodore Jasper Detweiler Jr. Using his full name on a school-style name badge can help connect the costume to Third Street Elementary School.
T.J. almost always wears his red baseball cap backward. This is his most recognizable accessory, so the cap should remain visible rather than being covered by a wig or hood.
Use a brown freckle pen or eyebrow pencil to place several small dots across both cheeks and the bridge of the nose. Apply the dots lightly and vary their size so they look more natural.
T.J. says “tender” when something is exciting or particularly good. He uses “whomps” to describe something disappointing, unfair or unpleasant.
