Baby Mandrake (Harry Potter) DIY costume guide

1. FLOWER POT – A Mandrake might not be the coolest Harry Potter character in the world, but you can’t deny it has a certain comedic impact. Not least thanks to this adult-human-sized flowerpot. All you need to do now is print out your own Mandrake label and stick it to your pot.

2. VINES – This pack comes with 8 fake vines made specifically for leafy cosplays such as this one. Wrap a few around your arms and body and watch your abominable Mandrake creation come to life.

3. TRACKSUIT – Don a matching pair of brown trousers and a hoodie and now you’re really starting to look like a human-sized plant come to life.

4. HEADBAND – Because you are a healthy growing plant you are going to need some majestic branches sprouting from your trunk.

5. FOOTWEAR – Finally, add a pair of brown shoes and your Mandrake outfit is ready to go!

What is a Mandrake?

A Mandrake is a magical plant with powerful restorative abilities. In their infancy, Mandrakes have roots that eerily resemble a small human-like figure. While coveted for their healing powers, Manrakes are also incredibly dangerous with a scream that can kill a human when not wearing proper ear protection.

So powerful is a Mandrake that it can reverse the effects of certification, brought on by the gaze of the deadly basilisk.

In “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”, Professor Pomona Sprout, the Herbology teacher at Hogwarts, assigns her students the difficult task of repotting Mandrakes as part of their studies.
