The origins of the ‘goth’ Chel cosplay are unclear although it quite possibly started its life as fan art on Tumblr. Whoever first came up with this idea, there’s no denying that this has become an incredibly popular alternative Chel costume.

How To Dress Like Goth Chel

1. TOP – Begin your Goth Chel look with a simple black tube top or similar.

2. SKIRT – Next, we went for a split dancer skirt but you could also make your own loincloth out of a length of fabric if you have the time.

3. BOOTS – This whole outfit is just calling out for a punk-heavy pair of chunky combat boots!

4. STOCKINGS – Fishnet stockings are also an absolute must in our opinion!

5. CHOKER – Add your preferred choker for that irresistible goth-girl charm.

6. WIG – Finish with an extra-long straight black wig and you are ready to go!

More Goth Chel Outfit Inspiration

For that punk vibe, you will want to stick to an all-black color palette. We chose a black tube top and a split belly dancer skirt for our outfit.

However, you could also make your own loincloth from a length of black fabric, which would be more in keeping with Chel’s original outfit in El Dorado.
