Freddy Krueger is the main antagonist in the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” horror franchise. Created by Wes Craving, the original movie was released in 1984 and has spawned multiple sequels, spin-offs, and remakes.

Freddy was originally depicted as a child killer who escaped justice before being burned alive by vengeful parents seeking revenge. In late adaptations, Freddy was shown as a peculiar though innocent man who was wrongly targeted.
