How To Dress Like Shadow

Sonic but with machine guns? Sign us up! Shadow the Hedgehog is like Sonic’s unhinged older brother. Darker, more mature, and obsessed with firepower. If Sonic and his allies don’t feel edgy enough for you then this anti-hero could be the character for you.

From the perfect leather jacket to channel the power of the Chaos Emeralds to dual-wielding machine guns, this is everything you need to make a badass Shadow the Hedgehog costume.

SHADOW COSTUME GUIDE

Shadow the Hedgehog (Mario) DIY costume guide

1. LEATHER JACKET – The certified bad boy of the Sonic franchise, Shadow the Hedgehog demands the coolest leather motorcycle jacket with red accents.

2. PANTS – Add a matching pair of black leather pants for one of the coolest cosplays you could hope to find.

3. SHOES – While we weren’t able to find quality replicas of Shadow’s shoes, we feel he would approve of some leather high tops, or perhaps a pair of tactical boots.

4. SWEATSHIRT – A white sweatshirt evokes Shadow’s ample chest fur.

5. GLOVES – Next, like many of our Sonic the Hedgehog costumes, you will need a pair of white gloves.

6. RED HAIR DYE -Grab some extra-strength hair gel and apply some red hair dye down the center of your head.

7. BLACK HAIR DYE – If you don’t have naturally dark hair then some temporary black dye might be a good option.

8. GOLD BANGLE – A couple of chunky gold bangles are great for recreating the rings that Shadow wears around his wrists.

9. TOY GUN – Sonic went through something of an identity crisis once he entered the 21st century. Like when they gave Shadow dual-wielded machine guns. We’re not sure what they were thinking but we are all for it!

ABOUT SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG:

Shadow the Hedgehog made his Sonic debut in the 2001 video game “Sonic Adventure 2” for the Sega Dreamcast.

Created by Professor Gerald Robotnik, grandfather of Dr. Eggman, as the “ultimate life form”, it was intended that Shadow would hold the cure to a deadly illness affecting Gerald Robotnik’s granddaughter.

Shadow possesses many of Sonic’s abilities, including super speed and agility, as well as unique powers such as Chaos Control, which allows him to manipulate space and time with the power of the Chaos Emeralds.

Shadow is typically presented as an antagonist or anti-hero. Frequently, his own motivations conflict with those of Sonic and his allies, though they have been known to join forces on occasion.
