Rule the night with this fun and sexy Gengar Pokemon cosplay tutorial

How To Dress Like Gengar

Do you know what the most popular Pokemon in the U.S.A is? Nope, not Pikachu. It’s not even Charizard or Squirtle. According to a recent survey, the most popular Pokemon in the United States is Gengar!

As the quintessential Ghost-type Pokemon who stalks the night and hides in the shadows, waiting for his next victim, maybe we should question what that says about us? Or, we could just embrace our identity with this naught Gengar outfit! This is everything you need to dress like our favorite Pokemon…

Gengar (Pokemon) DIY costume guide

1. FACE MASK – What better place to start your Gengar costume than with this cute little face mask based on the Pokemon’s sinister (and not at all creepy) smile?

2. TOP – We might have gone a bit too far with this one but hey, what’s the point of dressing up if not to push the limits of what is socially acceptable to wear?

3. SKIRT – This satin-look mini skirt with a ripped slit is perfect for our Gengar outfit but any other purple skirt would also work.

4. WIG – Of course, we had to go for a purple wig to really bring our Gengar look to life.

5. STOCKINGS – Add a pair of purple fishnet stockings for added sex appeal. Gengar is the definitive nighttime Pokemon, after all.

6. SOCKS – Finally, we felt these black and purple, over-the-knee striped socks really tied this whole look together!

Gengar #094 is the final evolution of Ghastly and evolves from Haunter after it is traded with another trainer. Gengar is one of the only Pokemon who can only evolve through trade.

Pokedex entry: “On the night of a full moon, if shadows move on their own and laugh, it must be Gengar’s doing”.

As a dual Ghost/Poison Pokemon, Gengar has a number of unique abilities including Levitate, granting Gengar immunity from Ground-type moves, and Cursed Body, which has a chance of disabling the move used against it.

If you hear something go bump in the night, it might just be Gengar searching for his next victim. These Ghost-types really don’t mess around and, even though Pokemon is a game meant for kids, these guys could give even the toughest grown-ups nightmares.

That’s why our Gengar costume is suitably ‘adult-themed’. Not for the light of day, this seductive outfit is for those late-night parties and naughty festival evenings.
